Introduction

Liquid plastics are reactive substances that in some cases begin the hardening process upon contact with air and in other cases by mixing two or more components together. Comprised of two or more liquid plastic layers, the resulting hydro insulation system is used for hydro insulating various surfaces.

Although liquid plastic systems have been used in Estonia for the last 10 years, they are relatively little known. Elsewhere around the globe these systems have been successfully utilised for the past 40 years and their relative importance keeps on rising, because, when compared to other hydro insulation systems, liquid plastic system is lacking attachments, thus providing 100% water retention. In addition, it can be installed to connections and surfaces that are hard to access and with a complicated structure.

Familiarity and work experience with liquid plastic materials is very important. We have a 6-year experience of working with reactive products (PMMA, PUR, EP, UP). We have received training with reactive materials from the manufacturer who is also providing us with engineering-technical support.

There is a 5 year warranty for liquid plastic works and a 25 year warranty for the materials by the manufacturer.

Advantages of liquid plastic

  • Forms an invisible membrane without any connections upon installation.
  • Water, heat, and cold proof.
  • Crack resistant.
  • Vapor-permeable.
  • Provides an excellent thermal, weather and UV protection.
  • Hydro insulates old bitumen and asphalt surfaces.
  • High sun-reflective capability which helps thermal insulation.
  • Retains elasticity within temperature range -40 to +90.
  • Adhesive to almost all surface types.
  • Usable for soft and heavy traffic.
  • Durable against cleaning agents, oils, sea water, and household chemicals.
  • No open flame (gas burner) needed during installation.
  • Various tones.
  • Various decorative layers.
